We are opening our doors for the season early this year at Cape Colony Inn. Now, you don’t have to wait until May to enjoy all the fun and fabulousness of Ptown! There are a lot of great events happening in April 2015 to check out. Here are a few of our favorite:
Whale watching is one of the most popular activities in Ptown and the season officially begins in the middle of April. One of our favorite companies who have daily excursions is Dolphin Fleet. Check out a great video from them:

As their website says, Gays for Patsy is the place for LGBTS (queer) folks to get together to socialize, two-step, line dance, east and west coast swing, waltz, and more to contemporary country, pop, and R&B in a supportive environment for more than 25 years!
Oh Ptown. A fabulous summer destination for thousands of visitors each year who clammer to the beaches, tea dances, and fabulous shopping and restaurants. No one can question the beauty of Ptown during the summer months with long days and so much to do. But what about the “early season” in Provincetown? May is really the start of the season to most locals where businesses emerge from Winter hibernation and start getting under swing.
So why do you want to get to Provincetown in May?
One of the most fun things to do in Provincetown is attending the opening parties of the many restaurants, bars, and boutiques in town. Throughout the month of May, each place opens up and invites guests to sample their menu selections and tasty cocktails. It is a great way to meet business owners and those who live in town year round. You don’t want to miss it, trust me.
Hotel rates are lower in May so you can get some great deals before the season really kicks off. There is a pleasant calmness to town where 80% of things are open but it does not have that July 4 busyness. Hotels are competitive this time of year meaning great rates for guests. You can also get some great deals in the local boutiques.
OK, some may fight me on this one but the weather this time of year can be simply perfect. No, you may not be able to sunbathe everyday, but it can be perfect to walk around, go whale watching, or go out in the evening with a light jacket. It really varies so come prepared but be ready for some beautiful weather.
You can see all the shows of the season before your friends! And, they are typically less busy earlier in the season meaning you can get tickets and a more personal experience. Find out what Miss Richfield 1981 is up to this season and here is another great event idea:
Let’s call it what it is! At the end of the day, Provincetown is still one of the best vacation spots on the planet and offers a variety of things to do for anyone. Catch a show, jump on a boat, have a cocktail, enjoy a bike ride through the dunes, or just relax. Ptown is the quintessential vacation spot, no matter the time of year.

How long have you lived/worked in Ptown?I grew up on the cape and moved to Provincetown 12 years ago.
The views of the ocean and the beautiful sunsets. Describe your perfect Saturday in Ptown from morning until bedtime. Make a mimosa and lay out on my back deck soaking up the sun, followed by a light lunch, cocktails at the White Wind Inn, Boatslip for T and then a dinner party in with friends.
Can you really pick just one, there are so many shops that sell so many great things, but jewelry always gets me excited.
Victors Restaurant, the atmosphere is fantastic, the food is great and they make an amazing spicy watermelon margarita.

We had an amazing time this year at Carnival in Provincetown! There were thousands of superheroes that hit the town and cast their super powers over exciting Ptown. The Cape Colony Inn had a presence in the parade along with local and national celebrities like Bruce Vilanch, Miss Richfield 1981, and Caroline Rhea.

This past weekend, Provincetown opened its doors (well, waters) to people from all over for the Annual Swim For Life & Paddler Flotilla. On September 6, 2014, contestants met at Boatslip to swim 1.4 miles across the Harbor. Hundreds of swimmers, friends, and paddlers come each year to take part in this event. The fundraiser supports year-round services for AIDS, women’s health, and the community.

A few weeks ago, we had a fabulous event at Cape Colony Inn featuring some big name Ptown celebrities! We did games around the pool for our private guests who all had a wonderful time! Look for more events like this that are free and tons of fun next season!

The eclectic and always interesting Provincetown was named the Second “Quirkiest” Town in America by Travel + Leisure readers recently. Their readers ranked the Top 20 in America according to unique and endearing aspects of the destination. Provincetown made the list noting their interesting artistic history and colorful contrast the rest of Cape Cod.
